Find Work That Trusts You to Do It

A score for how much room a role gives you, read alongside how well you fit it.

1. The Problem

Most job tools answer one question: will your resume get through? Few tell you whether the role respects your time. That is usually learned the hard way, from reviews, forums, and word of mouth, one anecdote at a time. Piecing it together costs hours.

2. Two Scores, Four Outcomes

Every role gets a fit score (does it match your skills and experience?) and an autonomy score (does it value finished work over constant supervision?). Together they sort every role into one of four places:

Four outcomes from reading fit and autonomy together
FitGives you roomKeeps you close
Fits your experienceApply first. You can do the work, and the role trusts you to.Demanding. A good job that asks for more of your day. Worth it if you want the role for its own sake.
A stretchStretch. Tempting, but you would be stretching your resume to reach it.Skip. Skip it.

The goal isn't the most flexible job. It's the job that fits your skills, your experience, and the way you want to work, all at once.

3. Candidate Shield Goes First

Candidate Shield removes the roles that miss your non-negotiables before either score is calculated: your pay floor, location, security clearance, and titles you have ruled out. It keeps a list of the roles it screened out and why, so nothing disappears without an explanation. The fit and autonomy scores then rank what is left. See how we score whether a job is worth your time.

4. How It Stays Honest

Job postings describe the same work in very different ways, and a posting can't tell you everything about how a manager runs a team. The scoring won't be perfect, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Treat it as a strong first read before you spend an hour tailoring an application, not a promise about how a role will feel six months in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a high autonomy score a promise?

No. It is a first read of what a posting suggests. It can't tell you how a manager will run their team once you are hired.

Why does fit matter as much as autonomy?

A flexible role you would have to stretch your resume to reach is still a stretch. The goal is a role that fits your skills, your experience, and the way you want to work, all at once.

Can I see which roles were screened out?

Yes. Candidate Shield keeps a list of the roles it screened out and the reason for each.
