What applicant tracking systems say they check, and what that means for tools that apply on your behalf.
1. What the platforms say they check
Greenhouse publishes the signals its fraud detection uses: your phone number, email address, location, and the IP address an application comes from. An IP address linked to a data center is its clearest high-risk signal. An email address more than a year old counts in your favor. A device time zone that doesn't match the location you entered is a weaker flag worth a second look.
Greenhouse's Real Talent product describes the goal plainly: catching fake or automated applications, impersonation, and applicants using AI or third parties to apply at scale. It does that through identity and network signals. None of them measure how well you write. They measure whether a real person, on a real connection, is behind the application.
Workday's documentation describes merging duplicate candidate records that share a name and a phone number, email address, or LinkedIn URL. It doesn't describe rejecting applications for being filled in by a tool.
